The Southridge Hunger Challenge

Where: 111 E Army Post Road, Des Moines IA 50315

When: December 10, 2013 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Help end hunger in Des Moines by gathering your friends and competing in the most exciting charity event on the Southside. Race against 29 other teams to pack food the fastest. There will also be a prize for the most creative team apparel, further amplifying the fun. All the meals will go directly to Bidwell riverside, the YMCA Supportive Housing and other local organizations in Des Moines.

Blow Your Own Glass Ornaments

Where: Studio Fuzzish├╝: 1808 Fuller Rd. West Des Moines, IA 50265

When: Times by appointment until January 31, 2014

Artist Rachel Sims will teach you how to torch and blow your own glass ornaments. $14 per ornament that takes about 10 minutes to make and 30 minutes to cool down.

Jolly Holiday Lights

Where: Waterworks Park: 2201 George Flagg Pkwy, Des Moines IA, 50321

When: 5:30-10pm until January 1, 2014

Drive through the Waterworks Park and enjoy holiday light displays that were sponsored by local businesses. Your kids can talk to Santa through December 23 at Santa’s Wish Shop. Prices are $10 per car, $20 per limo, $45 per bus. 100% of admissions go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa.
