As computer technology advances at its current pace, safety features in vehicles have become more and more advanced in the past decade. GMC is taking advantage of this trend to offer some of the safest trucks and SUV’s on the market.
GMC vehicles such as the 2014 GMC Sierra feature available Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning. These technologies use a tiny camera to monitor the road in front and beside the vehicle at all times, then vibrate the seat or activate an audible warning to alert the driver to impending danger. Road-monitoring technologies like this enhance the driver’s ability to pay attention to their surroundings, further preventing accidents from occurring.
GM vehicles also offer OnStar with a 6-month trial subscription that includes Automatic Crash Response, Turn-by-Turn Navigation, Roadside Assistance, Emergency Services Link, and Remote Door Unlock.
These advancements in safety technology have allowed the 2014 GMC Sierra to be the first pickup to achieve a 5-Star Overall Vehicle score in safety from the NHTSA under the new crash testing process.
